FORTE

FORTE

The Freshman Orientation Training Exercise (FORTE) usually starts on the Wednesday before classes begin at ISU. Generally the first day starts with AS200 Cadets (Sophomores) helping new AFROTC freshmen move into their dorms and becoming familiar with their new homes. Additionally, briefings by the Detachment Commander, FORTE Commander, and an ice cream social, help parents and new Cadets get to know current Cadets, learn more about AFROTC, and get many of their questions answered.

Day two generally consists of ice breakers, a detachment tour, an introduction to Drill and Ceremonies, uniform issue, and learning about college life with sessions on study skills and even group leadership projects. Typically in the afternoon, Cadets participate in a mock PT session to know how a typical physical training session runs. The day concludes with taking down the flag in central campus.

The third and final day of FORTE, incoming Cadets will be briefed on organizations offered in AFROTC and tips for success in college. Then the day concludes with a BBQ picnic lunch which is a fun, relaxing time for all.
